The hardest letter I've ever been involved in

I don't have long

Because of funding cuts that are hitting all charities, Sue Ryder hospices found that they were facing a shortfall. And if they couldn't make up that shortfall in three months, they would have to cut some services.

Along with Sue Ryder, we took the incredibly difficult decision to get a patient who only had three months left to live to write the letter. The words were his own, I just had to make them read like a letter. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

It's not an easy read either - Richard had such dignity to think about those who'll come to Sue Ryder after him.
