It's a CV

A CV THING

Jan 2017 onwards

Creative Director/Interim ECD Table19

Clients:

BlackRock, Internet Matters, Investec Private Bank, NOW TV, Royal British Legion, Sainsbury's, Sainsbury's Bank, Sky.

Came back to run the massive (and new) Sainsbury’s and Sainsbury’s Bank accounts, lead the team of 14 creatives, point at things, improve the creative output and steer the agency through new waters. Was part of the Management Team too.

Aug 2015 – Jan 2017

Creative Director/Interim ECD Kitcatt Nohr

Clients:

Axa, Bupa Global, Dogs Trust, Macmillan Cancer Support, Nissan, Sky

Leading a department of about 17 while still getting stuck into plenty of thinking and doing on everything from CRM and digital to TV ads and high-profile fundraising campaigns. Won a shelf-load of awards (DMA Gold for Macmillan Cancer Support, DMA Silver and Bronze for Dogs Trust, MAA Gold for Dogs Trust and more).

Jan 2010 – Aug 2015

Head of Copy & Deputy CD Table19

Clients:

BlackRock Investment Trusts, Coral, Carphone Warehouse, NOW TV, Sky, Virgin Holidays, William Hill.

I wrote and wrote and wrote, did big concepts and deep thinking, won awards and pitches, lead teams a team of creatives, sat on the board as chair of the Leadership Team, sat opposite clients in many meetings and presentations.

June 2008 - Dec 2009:

Senior copywriter, Kitcatt Nohr Alexander Shaw

Clients:

Britannia Building Society, Gap, IN'n'OUT, John Lewis, Lexus, Toyota, Waitrose, WWF.

Brought in to 'help out a bit' on a pitch, I was instrumental in securing the prestigious Lexus account (which also secured my permanent role). I went on to work across many clients and disciplines - primarily working as a team with the digital creative director when I won more pitches (Gap eCRM, Goodfella's Pizzas) and delivered innovative creative coupled with some astonishing results.

Nov 2005 - June 2008:

Freelance copywriter

Agencies:

Bright, EHS Brann, Kitcatt Nohr, LIDA, RMG, SFW, Tequila, Ware Anthony Rust, WDMP.

Clients:

All sorts - including Barclays, EON, Nat West, Sportingbet, P&O, Pipex, Waitrose.

I worked on and won pitches (and some awards) all over the place - on big and small clients for big and small agencies. I built up a good reputation for being reliable, creative and fast.

Jan 2004 - Nov 2005:

Group Head (Copy), EHS Brann

Clients included:

British Gas, Churchill Insurance, Diageo, The Economist, The FA, MINI, Peugeot, Tesco.

I was the lead creative on several of the agency's biggest and most high-profile accounts - including The Economist and MINI. Along with the day-to-day stuff, I won awards, ran winning pitches (on Churchill and Peugeot) and spent time mentoring junior teams and getting them thoroughly excited about the business.

2003:

Head of Copy, Chemistry

Clients included:

Baileys, Microsoft, Yell.com, Yellow Pages.

I was brought in to help develop relationships with new clients (like Microsoft) and strengthen existing ones (Bailey's and Yell) - and all the time deliver eye-catching and successful creative campaigns.

2001 - 2003:

Creative Head (Copy), Carlson

Clients included:

Beefeater, Britannia Building Society, British Airways, Citroen, KLM, Video Arts.

I was part of a new creative department who were charged with revitalising the creative output of the agency: and we succeeded. I was lead creative on a number of accounts and won various awards including Campaign Direct and ISP Gold.

1998 - 2001:

Copywriter, CiB Group

Clients included:

Arcadian Hotels, BBC World, Bermuda Tourism, Brittany Ferries, Trouble TV, Yahoo!

My first job as an agency copywriter in a small above the line, specialist travel and representation agency. Won a bus side of the month. Nice.

1995 - 1998:

Copywriter, OnScreen Information

Clients included:

WHSmith, Virgin Our Price.

A strange job, but an interesting one: I wrote brief synopses of every video that was legally available to buy in the UK at that time - everything from block-buster films to special interest (Great Narrow Boats of the World Volume 8) and even off-colour movies.

Before 1995

Did schooling (8 O Levels, 4 A Levels), University (BA Hons - Humanities).

And an array of jobs that I can barely remember.

ANYTHING ELSE?

I'm a voracious reader, a half-hearted gardener. I'm fanatical about music, really like rugby and pretend not to like football.

I can sum up nearly any film in about 8 words (even if I haven't seen it - although I'm not sure where best to use this talent).
